We spent 3 nights in Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital city, in June 2015. Really nice city with a cool relaxed vibe. We stayed in Absalon Hotel for its good location (~400e incl breakfast) and bought the 72-hour Copenhagen card (~90 each).

Our top rated things to see and do in Copenhagen:

1. Tivoli Gardens – its a must! On our first night the singer Jessie J was having a concert in the gardens, brilliant start to our trip. We went in to the amusement park each day/night and luckily, with our Copenhagen card, entrance was covered. There is something for everyone here.

2. The Little Mermaid, a trip to Copenhagen is not complete without visiting the city’s most famous tourist attraction. Go early to catch an uninterrupted view.

3. Nyhavn, picture perfect waterfront lined with quaint restaurants. Its waterfront is symbolic with Copenhagen. Definitely worth a stroll around.

4. Carlsberg, learn about the history of brewery, taste the different styles of the Danish beer and enjoy the courtyard. Carlsberg is my new drink of choice!  (Free with card)

5. Strøget to City Hall Square, ~1 km of pedestrian streets, shoppers paradise. Nice to chill with a coffee (and dessert!) and people watch.

6. The Round Tower, is the oldest functioning observatory in Europe. After a 209m spiral walk to the top there is a glass floor hovering 25m above ground and  panoramic views over the city. (Free with card)

7. Freetown Christiania, established by a group of hippies who live by their own society rules independent of the Danish government. Its very alternative with a bohemian feel, with many options when it comes to food and much more.

8. Canal Tours Copenhagen, we enjoyed this tour as we could sit back and take in all the sights from the harbor and through the canals without moving a muscle. (Free with card)

We also visited Copenhagen Zoo which houses over 3,000 animals (Free with card), Rosenborg Castle which is a picturesque fairy-tale castle where we sat and watched the sunset, and Amalienborg, the home of the Danish royal family and the Royal Guard soldiers.

There is plenty to see and do in Copenhagen, and with its cool vibe and good Carlsberg, it is worth the visit. Copenhagen can be expensive however with the Copenhagen card and a number of other free tourist sights, it can be made into a slightly more budget friendly trip.
